Hot This Week
Which faction are you?
Have you caught the Ingress frenzy yet? It seems everyone these days is amped about NianticLabs and its alternate reality game. Whether you're playing for the enlightened or the resistance, one thing is certain — we know you're hooked. Help us unify the local Ingress community using the hashtag #ingressDC on Google+ and Twitter. We'd love to hear your insider tips and game news! (more)
Chinatown Coffee Company
Whether you're looking for a caffeine kick to start your day or a cold one to unwind, Chinatown Coffee Company is sure to treat you right. Escape the honking horns and throngs of tourists along H Street and step into this haven for coffee lovers. Warm up with a gorgeous latte made by one of the friendly baristas or relax in CCC's minimalist space with a local beer. Looking for something a bit more exotic? We hear their absinthe will do the trick.
The National Gallery of Art was created in 1937 by Congress, accepting the gift of financier and art collector Andrew W. Mellon. Dedicated to preserving, collecting, exhibiting and fostering the understanding of works of art, the NGA is a national treasure. With two wonderfully-curated spaces (the East and West Buildings) and a 6.1 acre sculpture garden open year-round, it's a must-visit for locals and visitors alike. As every art lover knows, there is no substitute for experiencing great masterpieces in person.
A new addition to the U Street area, Hanoi House offers a cool, dark retreat from the area's glitz and glimmer. With its blood-red walls, antique lamps and gilded mirrors, you might just think you're in French colonial Vietnam. Sidle up to the bar for an exotic (and potent) cocktail and soak in the bordello-esque atmosphere. Sink your teeth into traditional Vietnamese specialties: green papaya salad, banh mi, vermicelli bowls and pho will delight your tastebuds. Did someone say date night?
What would your perfect day in DC look like? Write three reviews of local places you'd visit on the best day ever, and we will send you a rockin' pair of Google+ tube socks. Be sure to share each review with the hashtag #PerfectDayDC, and the user who planned the most popular "perfect day" itinerary will be featured in our weekly newsletter!
